Tryouts
Club tryouts are held twice a year: in May for all players and in November for players not affiliated with another club.
If your child is new to competitive club soccer or has recently moved to the area and wants to join a team, they can be evaluated during our May tryout for the Fall season or our November tryout for the Spring season.
Tryouts for our 2025 Spring teams will be held November 19 & 21, for players born 2017 and older. Pre-registration is required. This is for new players to the club only (current players do not need to tryout). Details, typical structure, and required registration link are below.
Club soccer is a year-round sport with Fall + Spring seasons, and breaks in the winter and summer. You can read through a good explanation HERE and decide if club soccer is the right commitment for your family.
Tryouts for Spring 2025 Season
Registration for new players to the club only
- November 19 & 21
- Belmont Sports Complex North Field (550 Island Parkway)
Tryouts are held by age group. It is recommended that players attend both sessions when possible for a more accurate evaluation.
4:30-5:30pm Girls born 2017, 2016
5:30-6:30pm Boys born 2017, 2016
6:30-7:30pm Girls and Boys born 2015, 2014
This will be an online pre-registration event only – there will be no on-field registration available on the day. Players will be assigned to a coach and a field prior to the tryout day and report to that field at the times shown below for each age group (arrive 10 minutes early so you are comfortable and ready to begin on time). This information will be sent the morning of the tryout day.
It is recommended that a player attends both dates of our tryouts as the more times a player is evaluated the more accurate the evaluation will be. Our club uses tryouts to fill open roster spots on current teams and add new teams to the club as appropriate.
Current players do not need to attend the tryouts (certain teams/players may be asked by the DoC to help during the tryouts). Players should bring water, soccer cleats, shin guards (required) and a ball and arrive 15 minutes before the scheduled start time. Prior to the first tryout date there will be a Zoom orientation for parents. The orientation is for parents new to Belmont United and will cover tryout questions and general information about the season.
Players grouped by age and gender
00-10 mins Ball-based warm-up
10-35 mins 1v1 games and/or shooting games
35-60 mins Small-sided scrimmage
Decisions on selection and acceptance of players are made solely by the coaching staff and BUSC’s Director of Coaching. After evaluation, players may be assigned to a team that best fit the player’s developmental growth or potential.
