Belmont United Soccer Club holds tryouts for players twice per year. BUSC holds tryouts for the Fall season in May and for the Spring season in November. For 2007 players and younger two tryout dates are provided each season. It is recommended a player attends both dates as the more times a player is evaluated the more accurate the evaluation will be. For players born in 2006 or earlier, tryouts are with individual teams at their scheduled practice time.
Tryouts for players moving between competitive teams occur in the May-June tryout window only. If you are new to competitive club soccer (for example, currently playing AYSO) or have moved from outside the area and would like to join a team for the Spring season, your child can be evaluated at our November tryout or team practices. If you would like to transfer from another competitive club to Belmont United outside of the May-June tryout window, please contact our Director of Coaching, Rich Williams (email@example.com).
Current players do not need to attend the tryouts (certain teams/players may be asked by the DoC to help during the tryouts). Players should bring water, soccer cleats, shin guards (required) and a ball and arrive 20 minutes before the scheduled start to check-in. Once the first tryout session for each age group begins there will be a parent orientation. Orientation is for parents new to Belmont United and will cover practices, games, volunteering, fees and 'The Belmont United Way'.
Typical Tryout Session:
(Players grouped by age and gender)
0-15 mins Ball based warm-up
15-45 mins 1v1 Games and/or shooting games
45-90 mins Small sided scrimmage
Our club uses tryouts to fill open roster spots on current teams and add new teams to the club as appropriate. New teams we may add for the spring season are:
Decisions on selection and acceptance of players are made solely by the coaching staff and BUSC’s Director of Coaching. After evaluation, players may be assigned to a team that best fit the player's developmental growth or potential. Parents and players will be notified via email of tryout results by Wednesday 22nd November.
